Description
People often think of the frozen, fruity, or overly-sweet varieties when they think of daiquiris, but daiquiris are actually a classic cocktail made with very few ingredients: light rum, citrus, and sweetener. While I have nothing against sipping on a frozen strawberry daiquiri on a blissful beach vacation, today I’m sharing our more traditional recipe. Here, we’re using lemon juice instead of the conventional lime juice and lightly infusing some thyme for an added twist. It’s refreshing, tart, summery, and so easy to drink. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 4 oz. white rum (we used Plantation)
- 2 oz. fresh lemon juice
- 1 oz. agave syrup or honey
- 3–4 sprigs fresh thyme
Instructions
- Place thyme sprigs in a cocktail shaker and use a muddler or spoon to gently muddle the thyme. This will allow the herb’s essential oils to release and perfume the cocktail
- To the shaker, add the rum, lemon juice, and agave syrup. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously.
- Pour into 2 cocktail glasses (tumblers, martini glasses, rocks glasses will all work)
- Garnish with a small sprig of thyme and enjoy
